Recessed Hardware

The Addition of recessed hardware streamlines the case and helps prevent the handle and latches from snagging other objects, reducing the chance of damaging the case hardware or the other object. The hinge is protected in the same manner. Four dimples protrude from the bottom of the case to insure the case does not tilt or pivot on the hinge and prevents the hinge from scratching other surfaces.

Improved Gasket

The Santoprene Gasket System was designed with Protection in mind.  Its extra thickness makes a more complete seal for the entire life of the case.  Most importantly, it was designed to cover the sharp edges of the lip (see cutaway), preventing the contents of the case from ever touching the metal edges.  The wrap-around characteristic will hold the seal in place, even if the adhesive fails.
